The Top 5 Nursing Schools

If you like to help people, a career in nursing may be a perfect match for you. You can help people maintain optimal health and an increased quality of life. Education is the first and most important step to becoming a nurse. To help with your search for the perfect school, the top 5 nursing schools are listed here.

1. University of Washington (Seattle, WA)

2. University of California (San Francisco, CA)

3. University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA)

4. Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD)

5. University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI)

Nursing is a very broad field with many specializations. A few of the specialties you can pursue include critical care, hematology, hospice, infectious disease, and trauma, just to name a few. Many of these will require a certification or license.

As a nurse, you can choose to work in many different environments. Of course, there is the traditional hospital setting. However, you can also work as a home care nurse, in schools, and as a researcher. There are also positions in physician’s offices and long-term care facilities.

The job outlook for nurses is promising because there is currently a shortage. Unfortunately, due to the shortage, the workload can be very demanding with 60+ hours weekly. It can also be a financially rewarding career, however. A low level RN can expect to earn approximately $65,000 a year in the beginning. This will continue increase with experience and any additional specialties.

Why Do We Dream? Understanding Dreams and Their Mystery

Dreams are artistic creations that have a symbolic meaning. They are produced by the unconscious mind that works like a natural doctor. It uses dream symbols in order to send important messages to our conscience. These symbols contain information and precious guidance, which protect the human side of our conscience from the anti-conscience, our primitive and wild conscience. Therefore, we dream because the dream messages protect our mental stability, and our sensitivity.

The anti-conscience is a very powerful enemy that keeps trying to control our behavior. When it does, we become violent and cruel. The unconscious mind keeps trying to prevent this tragic end, helping us develop the positive characteristics of our personality. The fight between evilness (anti-conscience) and goodness (unconscious mind) is a constant battle in our psychological make-up.

Our human conscience is the target of the anti-conscience’s attacks, and the aim of the unconscious psychotherapy is to prevent it from happening. The evil anti-conscience wants to destroy our human conscience and take its place, while the unconscious mind tries to help our human conscience evolve, and become stronger than our wild side.

The mysterious aspect of dreams is a camouflage that tries to mislead the dangerous anti-conscience, which must not understand the unconscious messages. We can study the symbolic dream language in order to understand these messages, but the anti-conscience will never manage to do the same because its intelligence is limited.

Another reason why the unconscious mind has to send us information in a symbolic form is the fact that our ego doesn’t accept criticism. The mysterious dream images usually reflect our behavior; showing us the mistakes we are making through a representation. We need the mysterious atmosphere of the dream images because we cannot verify that we are wrong in a certain aspect of our lives without feeling revolted.

Are You Ready to Learn German?

Learning German Language can point you in the right direction that will teach you German in no time. If you are going to live or work in a German-speaking country, it is important to learn the language fast. German is spoken by more people in Europe than any other language.

Learning another language can be a challenge. To make it interesting you want to choose a course that is both fulfilling and fun. Computers and the Internet have made learning a new language much more enjoyable, compared to dry courses of the past. Interactive video or audio courses make it easier to learn pronunciation and phrases as you repeat the words with your instructor.

You have to commit yourself to learn a new language. It will not happen by osmosis, but you might find that you dream in the language you are studying before you think you know anything. This is rather fascinating – sometimes we know things we’re not consciously aware of. Your mind is out of the way while you sleep, so there is no resistance.

Learning German Language can only guide you but you still have to do the work (What a bummer). When you apply yourself, you will soon trust yourself. As the great German Poet Goethe said, “As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.”

You will find quite a few German nouns and verbs that are close to English. The words are similar; the only difference is the use of German articles. English has only one article, “the,” German has three. They are masculine, feminine and neuter. So, how will you remember which article to use? You will learn to use the article as part of the noun. And if you don’t remember which one to use, just go with the masculine articles, because it appears more often than any other one in German. One rule that is easy to remember is that all German nouns are capitalized, and plural nouns use the feminine article.

AP Exams – Count the Cost!

An AP exam is a wonderful way to demonstrate mastery of a subject. You can prove your child has learned a wide variety of subjects with one long, graded exam. It is standard for many highly selective schools, so they can be quite common. That does not mean, however, that AP exams are always a good fit.

One of my clients reported that her son struggled to follow an AP course that homeschoolers commonly utilize. She said each day he would study for 4 or 5 hours just on the single subject. Finally, exhausted, he had little emotional energy left to spend on his remaining school work. Not surprisingly, he was burned out and his mother was worried.

With everything, it is important to find a balance between life and academics. Take a step back. Try to look at the big picture. From within the family, I am sure there is confusion and strife. Perhaps there is anxiety about whether the child is trying hard enough – or whether the parent is pushing too hard. From outside the family, the bigger picture is a little easier to see. One AP subject was interfering with homeschooling in general. In this child, one AP subject came at the cost of education.

If something is getting in the way of educating your child, remember why we homeschool. We can be flexible, and change and adapt to meet various situations. No matter how great the AP class sounded when you signed up, once you recognize it does not work, flexibility can save the day.

An educated, well-adjusted, happy student will look better on your transcript, and look better to a college, than a child that passed an AP exam at the expense of the rest of school. After all the motive of homeschooling is to make sure that the children are learned in a comfortable way.

How to Say Happy New Year in Spanish and How to Speak Cuban Spanish

Today, you will learn how to say Happy New Year in Spanish and how to speak Cuban Spanish. This how to say Happy New Year in Spanish: “Prospero Ano Nuevo”

But keep in mind that can say either “Prospero Ano Nuevo” or “Feliz Ano Nuevo.” Or as they say in Colombia, “Feliz Año.”

After I wrote a recent article where I included a “foto” and a “receta” for pegao, concon or cucayo (delicacy consisting of crunchy rice that sticks to the bottom of the pot), one reader responded with a very interesting email:

“Muchas gracias, Patrick. BTW, in Cuba, the rice crust at the bottom of thepot is called la raspa, and is a delicacy there, too. Gracias por la receta, tambien. Most people these days just forgo the raspa and use a rice cooker, but I hate accumulating more gadgets! I do use my pressure cooker though.
I do a lot of Cuban cooking. I love it.

We will have a traditional Noche Buena on Christmas Eve with the Lechon Asado that I injected and marinated with mojo for at least 24 hours, yuca con mojo, frijoles negros, arroz, (if you cook the rice and beans together it is called Moros y Cristianos), maybe some platanos maduros fritos (yum), salad, and for dessert flan and maybe some Turrones. I’ve never had Turrones, but it’s part of the traditional Christmas foods. Do you still live in Colombia? I tried to make arepas, but did not get them to cook through properly. Plus, I’m not sure we have the proper harina here. I used the one Mexicans use for tamales and tortillas”

That ends her email.
