Study Tips For Students – Read These Tips And You Can Thank Me Later

Now that you are in the thick of the college year many things are happening such as assignments, extracurricular activities and exams. So how do we score higher on those exams? To try to shed some light on that question I will provide you with some study tips for students that will have you scoring higher in no time.

Here is my first tip for you.

After each day do an assessment of what you have learned. It does not have to be a long review but just review the material you learned that day. Rinse and repeat everyday you have class.

The place where you study is paramount. You want to discover a place that is available to you that has very minimal distractions. You can not study effectively if you have distractions can you?

Problems with a certain subject. Then study in a group. Some people find that studying in a group helps them since the others can assist you with difficult material. Vice versa, you may be able to assist others in the group also. However, this may not work all the time because you may prefer to study alone and the group could be distracting. So try it and see if it works for you.

When employing a variety of strategies when studying like reading your textbook, studying course notes, answering textbook questions, redoing old assignments, reviewing earlier test and quizzes and doing research online it is important to not use a shotgun approach. Have a plan and stick to it.

You can also use some memory-enhancing methods like mnemonics, visualization, and word association to help with studying.

Those with a sharp, dependable head for numbers are naturals for the world of business and finance. However, banking training can be a stringent, rigorous process, studying a course that equips students with the academic knowledge to operate in the increasingly competitive world of financial markets.

Certainly the employers in this sector are increasingly demanding that the graduates they employ are capable of analysing and solving complex problems in banking and finance, and who possess the ability to apply the principles of financial management.

It is certainly advantageous that any students wishing to enrol in a Banking degree have an interest and awareness commercially, as the structure of many banking courses nationwide builds a sound academic and practical knowledge to cement the understanding of markets.

The most sought after business and financial courses are understandably located in the London area, with close links to the City of London. London-based business schools also offer exemptions as part of their banking training from some of the professional exams of the Institute of Financial Services (IFS) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Financially, living and studying in London can be a burden and a significant outlay. That’s why a limited number of scholarships are often available from London-based business schools directly to undergraduates. These are awarded on the basis of academic merit, with 25 percent of the tuition fee paid off.

The very global nature of London and business itself means that banking training courses are very diverse, with people from all continents. This is all very useful for future careers as it helps students to identify with others.

MSc University – Choosing the Right University for You

Taking the next step and enrolling in a specialist Masters degree can be a necessary step towards your desired career. However, choosing the right university for you is just as important in order to receive the best possible teaching in the most comfortable learning environment.

The city which ticks all of these boxes is London, and England’s capital is still regarded as the epicentre of global business and commerce. Therefore business undergraduates should certainly consider London-based business schools that provide courses that are based on, and connected to, the needs of business and employers worldwide.

London’s MSc university courses are perfectly placed to achieve this, being located just minutes from the City of London. The beauty of being taught at a London MSc university is that these institutions have numerous high-level contacts with big city firms, and many postgraduates are fortunate enough to move onto positions in those firms every year.

The opportunity to be at the heart of the world’s most exciting, diverse and creative city is just too good an opportunity to miss.

Many London-based business schools offer scholarships and bursaries that can cut the cost of your course funding by as much as a quarter.

How Is the New GRE Pattern Going to Affect USA Admits

Well, all of us know that the GRE exam is being restructured and those who are planning to take the test in 2011 have the need to know the following things.

What are the major changes?

- You can use the online calculator!
- No computer adaptive thinking
- No vocabulary that doesn’t make sense
- Number of questions on reading comprehension would be increased
- You can skip questions, go back later and answer them!
- Data analysis questions will be added
- Score increment is 1
- Removal of analogies and antonyms

Is it good or bad?

Good: Well, looking at the changes, one could feel that there are many good things associated with the new GRE pattern. No complex vocabulary and the online calculator are the best things. In the old pattern, those who are good at only remembering things used to score high in verbal. In the new pattern, antonyms were replaced by more comprehensions. It is an indication that ETS is paying more attention to the analytical skills of the test taker. That’s definitely a good news.

Good: Introduction of an online calculator will result in the reduction of silly calculation mistakes that people make while performing simple additions or multiplications. Isn’t ETS considering the calculative power of the test takers? Well, this is again a good thing. Analytical skills are being given more preference to the calculative speed.

No impact: Increments of 1 or whatever the number is, it doesn’t make much difference to the overall score.
Good: Removal of computer adaptive thinking is a good thing. Reason being, everyone does mistakes and if an intelligent student does a silly mistake in the first question, his/her overall score is going to be affected. Similarly, if someone who is not so intelligent answers the first few questions correctly by luck, he/she gets more than what he/she deserves. This is definitely a good thing.

How To Study For A Test More Effectively

One of the most stressful times in a college year or week for that matter is exam time. I hated taking exams because in short they suck. Especially if I knew I was not prepared. Now I was never a person with great study habits but one strategy really worked well for me and it is called spaced learning. You can learn how to study for a test more effectively by using just this strategy alone.

Here is what you do. You spend an hour studying, then take a ten or fifteen minute break. Then another hour studying followed by another break. Then same thing another hour of studying and then break. Pretty simple right? The fact is you will retain more material by using this strategy. as opposed to you spending three or even four straight hours at work studying.

Not sure why it was effective for me. Maybe this it was a result of me being able to focus for only 30 to 40 minuets at a time. It always seemed as though my thoughts would simply begin to wander the longer my study session. At any rate, spaced studying does work pretty well…. so give it a try to find out for yourself.

After completing your study session you can also mix in food as a reward. Studies have shown that eating small meals on a frequent basis is far more beneficial than eating only a few times but at much larger quantities. So during your break mix in some small meals and snacks.

Now after you’ve completed a study session by reviewing the material, sit back and examine how effective the session was. Try and recall a portion of the material you’ve just studied. See how much you can recall. After a couple of hours, or a day later do the same thing to gauge the effectiveness of your studying.
